Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
I kissed my best friend on the cheek
and she giggled.
I did too.
My lip gloss left sticky prints on her skin
that she wiped away
with her sleeve.
I wanted to kiss you before I knew what kissing was.
I watched you grow into something
more than just another boy.
Tracing my lip with my fingertip and wondering…
Are yours dry and hungry like mine?
Or soft and sweet?
They were warmer than I imagined,
brushing hot breath across my palm
and my wrists.
Your quick pecks tickled,
your eyes wide and playful,
your smile set me

Flushed cheeks and heartbeat gone frantic,
I didn’t kiss you back...
Not like I wanted to
leaning forward

eyes wide open blind
I walk with a child
of buoyant energy
and an innocent smile
tainted by beguiling eyes
which deceive his fingers
into places they do not belong.
With me, a child runs,
his affable smiles
and small bare feet encircling me,
his dwindling youth
burning limply on a stick
held in his innocent fingers
and watched with rapt pupils.
Away from me, a child scampers
his bright smile
reflecting the fire
at his fingertips
as he waves and twirls
the branch and its flame
reaches and reaches out
for him,
for his consuming eyes
till it reaches
and grabs
grabs his eyes
and refuses to release
his gaze.
Ahead of me, a child burns
and as I pass him

Flames leap, blazing dance
Pungent spitting cedarwood
Perfumed heat in air.
Relaxing fragrance
Therapeutic, mind adrift
Troodos mountain call.
Memories echo
Thought inspired from long ago
Encapsulated.
